PINE VARNISHES

Pine wood varnishes

Pine is a European softwood. Pine is a proven wood for window construction. Pine is considered a softwood and contains resin. At the appropriate surface temperature (from approx. 55°C) the wood starts to produce and release resin. The raw wood has a yellowish to reddish-brown colour. Wood windows should be painted at regular intervals depending on the type of paint (opaque paint or stain) and weather conditions. After approx. 2-3 years for translucent coatings, after approx. 4-5 years for opaque coatings. Depending on the weather, you may need to repaint sooner. The surface of the window on the exposed side should therefore be checked annually for damage.

SPRUCE VARNISHES

Spruce wood varnishes

Spruce is ideally suited as a window wood, as this wood type offers very good thermal insulation values. The spruce wood we use comes from Germany or Austria and bears the PEFC seal for sustainable forestry. It is therefore not harvested from primeval forests, which is very important for those who are environmentally-conscious. Spruce is a softwood that grows back quickly and is playing an increasingly prominent role in window construction due to its good insulation values. With this wood type as well, only knot-free wood is used for window construction. The top lamella of the layer-glued wooden beams are continuous for an optimal surface, especially with stains where the wood grain is clearly visible. So you can enjoy windows and doors in 1a wood quality.

MERANTI VARNISHES

Meranti varnishes

Meranti is a tropical wood. The exact name is White Meranti or Heavy White Seraya and it mostly comes from South-east Asia or Indonesia/Malaysia. Meranti is considered a hardwood and is a porous wood. Meranti is a suitable window wood and when untreated has an olive-brown colour, which tends to darken. Although meranti is a more resistant type of wood than pine, it also needs to be revarnished regularly. After approx. 2-3 years for translucent coatings, after approx. 4-5 years for opaque coatings. With meranti, as with all other wood types, regular repainting may be necessary beforehand, depending on the weather. The surface of the window on the exposed side should therefore be checked annually for damage.

LARCH VARNISHES

Larch wood varnishes

European larch is a species of plant from the larch genus and belongs to pine family. This species is native to Europe. Larch wood is mainly used for construction and furniture. In terms of economic value, European larch is the most important in Eurasia compared to other species. Larch wood is the heaviest and hardest wood among European softwoods. It is particularly used as outdoor construction timber for front doors and windows. Larch has a reddish-brown core that darkens rapidly and a yellowish-white sapwood (outer, still living layers of wood). The difference in colour between early and late wood is particularly striking in the core, which gives the wood a very vivid pattern.

EUCALYPTUS VARNISHES

Eucalyptus varnishes

Eucalyptus is an excellent window wood that is even harder than our native oak. Despite the high bulk density, eucalyptus is an extremely fast-growing wood. It is therefore very well suited as a renewable raw material, which is why this wood comes exclusively from plantations in order to avoid deforestation of rain- and primeval forests. The look of the wood itself is similar to meranti. Due to its high amount of essential oils, this wood is resistant to fungi and insects. And thanks to its high bulk density, this wood is particularly sturdy and therefore ideally suited for large windows and doors. This property also improves its break-in protection, as the wood does not splinter as quickly.

OAK VARNISHES

Oak varnishes

Oaks are deciduous trees that belong to the beech family. In Germany, the oak is mainly found in mixed forests. The wood is a valuable hardwood and has a high rot resistance. It is rarely attacked by worms. Oak wood is an excellent timber for components exposed to moisture and is therefore particularly suitable for interior and exterior construction, including windows. Nevertheless, regular repainting should also be carried out here. After approx. 2-3 years for translucent coatings, after approx. 4-5 years for opaque coatings. With oak, as with all other wood types, regular repainting may be necessary beforehand, depending on the weather. The surface of the window on the exposed side should therefore be checked annually for damage.
