Stability, security, weather resistance and durability – these are only a few of the many advantages that aluminium French doors offer. Furthermore, highly innovative insulation systems inside the frame increase the thermal insulation values of these French doors significantly. This eliminates the only downside that external French doors made of aluminium have, making our French doors highly functional, energy-efficient and visually unique.
Configure nowOur Aluprof and Schüco aluminium french doors bring together great stability with diverse design possibilities.
Aluminium French doors offer great security and substantial durability. With the right type of glazing, this durability extends even to the glazed elements of your French door. External French doors made from aluminium are highly durable, in contrast to most other materials. Aluminium is extremely lightweight, sturdy, and resistant to warping, even when subjected to extreme fluctuations in temperature. This gives aluminium doors an advantage over wooden or uPVC doors. Aluminium is also resistant to rain and humidity, as the surface is coated, which prevents rusting.
French doors made of aluminium aren't just highly resistant to warping or other outside influences – they also offer great insulation properties. This might sound counter-intuitive, as metal is highly thermally conductive. But smart insulation technologies allow these door systems to have similar thermal efficiency compared to wooden doors. Thus, aluminium French doors provide great attributes in any respect:
Aluminium is virtually maintenance-free. Only the moving parts, such as the hinges, need to be looked after. A bit of resin-free oil on the hinges is enough to keep your aluminium French door running flawlessly for a long time.
Similar to our uPVC and wooden doors, our aluminium French doors come with a wide range of design options for you to choose from. Would you like a single door, a door with multiple leaves or one with side panels and glass transom lights? Or maybe you'd prefer a bi-fold door? Which type of glass or laminated glass would you like? What type of locking mechanism should your door have? Which furnishings will look good on your home? Our configurator guides you through all of these questions, allowing you to keep track of all available options and stay on top of your decisions. It also gives you a running tally of how much your fully customised French doors will cost – you have total control over your budget. Among the options you can customise are:
Another way of creating a truly unique French door is choosing the right colours and decors for it. Aluminium doors are powder-coated or treated with an anodic coating, which makes them easy to paint. You can choose from a variety of different options to fit your personal sense of aesthetics perfectly. Pick black, white or anthracite grey aluminium French doors or opt for a vibrant colour – the choice is yours. You can further customise the look of your doors by adding furnishings or special glass types.
The price depends on the model as well as on the extras you choose. Aluminium doors usually are more expensive than wooden or uPVC doors. However, the great advantages of the material definitely pay off. Using the windows24.com online configurator, you can see exactly how much special options contribute to the overall price of your aluminium French doors. For example, you can expect triple glazing to be more costly than double glazing. Likewise, toughened glass or laminated glass are more expensive choices compared to normal glazing elements.
Our French doors come in various different colours. This allows you to add a personal touch to your door and make it fit seamlessly with the overall visual style of your house's exterior. You can choose between various RAL colours or decide on a unique special colour or decors via our configurator. You'll also be able to see what your new patio doors will look like. But please keep in mind that different computer monitors can change the way RAL colours look.
You can order a bespoke door with custom measurements through our configurator. You can find some helpful tips and instructions on how to measure your patio door on our website. Please note that there are minimum size requirements as well as maximum measurements. These depend in part on what material you choose, and how many leaves you want (bifold doors, double doors etc.).
The choice of door material depends on various factors. uPVC is more affordable and has many beneficial properties. However, aluminium is much more durable and resistant to moisture as well as temperature fluctuations. Modern manufacturing methods also make the material much less thermally conductive than would be the case normally. Ultimately, both materials are a great choice, but the latter offers more options and requires less maintenance at a slightly higher price.
This robust door material hardly needs any maintenance. Simply use a damp cloth for cleaning the surface. Particularly persistent grime may require some simple cleaning products such as dish soap or glass cleaner for glazed surfaces. If your door is made of anodized metal, make sure to only use special care products designed for use on anodized surfaces. Most importantly: Never try to scratch off dirt using your fingernails or abrasive cleaning utensils like steel wool. These could potentially damage the coating of your French door, making it susceptible to rust.
