A key first choice customers have to make when purchasing windows is to decide on the material. This also has an impact on final costs. At windows24.com we offer five different materials – uPVC, wood, aluminium, uPVC-alu, and wood-alu.

Comparing the most basic window configurations for all materials, a modern uPVC window is our cheapest option while a wood window clad by exterior aluminium is the most expensive due to manufacturing costs and the combination of two materials.

For those after a particularly durable, impact-resistant option, however, aluminium could be a preferred choice whereas for customers prioritising design, the bespoke patterns of a rustic wood window may be more attractive. For wood there are then different timbers available at varying costs.

In the size section of the configurator, minimum and maximum height and width ranges are displayed with interactive boxes for customers to input the required dimensions. Particularly small or large, non-standard sized measurements will tend to result in a more expensive final product.

In a similar way, windows can feature a single sash but can also be configured as a double or triple sash construction. This is ideal to ensure the necessary support for particularly wide and large windows but can come at an increased cost.

For all our shapes and sizes, different window opening options are also available. The cheapest choice here is usually a fixed window that doesn’t open. Other choices then include the popular tilt and turn mechanism, which allows for different airing options, or the tilt-only system.

Because glass makes up the majority of a window’s surface area, its quality and design can significantly impact the performance of the final product. At windows24.com there are therefore a variety of glazing options, available at different costs. In their most basic configuration, windows come with double glazing, which provides good insulation.

For improved thermal performance, triple glazing featuring three glass panes is then also available. Although this comes at a slightly higher initial cost, long-term energy savings can be made.
