At windows24.com and our parent company, Neuffer, there is a long tradition of manufacturing windows. From founding a factory over 150 years ago and becoming the royal glass maker to more recently expanding into international markets with a 5th generation CEO, staying up to date with window manufacturing developments is one of our key specialisms.
Windows have been manufactured for centuries and standard modern windows as we know them originate from Europe in the late Middle Ages. Back then windows and glazed doors were difficult to produce with each pane constructed individually and lined with lead. The finished products were mostly only used in cathedrals, churches, and by the upper class. This had then developed by the end of the Middle Ages as more humble buildings were also being built with windows. A key change in the window industry then came about in 1904 thanks to the Fourcault process, which revolutionised the complex blown glass technique, bringing in flat glass production on an industrial scale.
Out of the Fourcault process, float glass was then developed. This lowered the price and simplified the process, meaning flawless glass could be produced quickly and affordably. More window factories were built, and the process has since developed with further innovations like laminated safety glass, multi-chambered uPVC window frame profiles, adhesive technology, and professional colour application.
At windows24.com we offer modern window frames in a range of quality materials. uPVC windows and composite uPVC-aluminium windows, particularly popular with our customers thanks to their excellent energy saving insulation and affordability, are made by one of our German suppliers, Kömmerling or Aluplast. Below you will find a summary of the manufacturing process and a video:
As well as more modern products like uPVC windows, at windows24.com you can still find traditional materials. Our wood windows and doors are available in different timbers and varnishing styles, for example, and bring a particularly warm design. The profiles have also been developed with functional service in mind, featuring contemporary sealing levels and laminated layers for watertightness and excellent durability. Here is an overview of the manufacturing steps and an informative video:
Regardless of the quality installer or manufacturer that they come from, windows and doors from windows24.com undergo rounds of testing to have them comply with European laws and stringent regulations. Accreditation bodies, such as IFT Rosenheim, award certificates for high product impact resistance and strength, for example, whereas the Passive House Institute gives its seal of approval to windows and doors with particularly low u-values that save on energy. Such awards are made possible thanks to the quality window manufacturers and the attention to detail put into the seals, chambers, and adhesion behind product manufacturing.
A further window feature that is prepared for customers during manufacturing is surface colour. For a uPVC window, for example, a range of styles are on offer for both the external and interior finish and the tones are applied as foils to profiles under high temperatures. This makes for beautiful design and means that the finish will remain vibrant year upon year. As with uPVC windows, our company then also provides an offer of different finishes for aluminium and clad windows and doors. The customer's choice is professionally applied via powder coating, which results in a durable finish for the metal.
In terms of further features, at windows24.com windows and doors can also feature glazing bars, come with roller shutters, and there are a range of different glazings available. Once selected upon order, these are added during manufacturing, producing a seamless and expert final product.
