With uPVC selected in our configurator as the material, the Swindon door is shown as a potential model. The beautiful design creates a fine balance between generous openness, on the one hand, while maintaining privacy on the other. This is achieved using a proven design, featuring a large glass panel above the door handle while one made of uPVC is placed below.
While the top glass element floods the entrance area with daylight, the lower uPVC panel ensures that the hallway is not fully visible from the outside. As illustrated in the product configurator on windows24.com, the Swindon glass door model can also be highly customised to fit your desired dimensions, glazing, colour, decor and security features.

“windows24.com brought windows and doors with amazing quality to our project. The products are well-built and certified for passive house values.”
"We love our new windows and doors! The windows24 team gave us great advice and recommendations and was so patient with all changes to our project."
“We spent more than a year searching for a window manufacturer with high product quality and maximum design flexibility. At windows24.com we found the perfect solution for us.”
The centrepiece of the Swindon front door is the upper glass panel. This can be customised in our comprehensive configurator with the choice of glass, such as clear or ornamental, affecting the privacy provided. Ornamental glazing, for example, is much more than a mere design gimmick and offers a great degree of practicality; Thanks to their Chinchilla, Master Carré® or Satinato structure, each ornamental, decorative glass variant effectively creates seclusion without restricting daylight as people or objects behind the surface are reduced to moving colourful blurs to those looking in.
Beyond the more obvious choice of the glazing’s opacity, customers at windows24.com can also decide whether extra panes of glass should be added to boost the door’s thermal efficiency and security. While all our glass doors come with standard double glazing, for example, the glass panel’s thermal u-value and your energy costs can be optimised by adding an extra pane to create insulating triple glazing.
If privacy is more of a priority, however, this can also be accounted for. A pane of laminated safety glass, for example, can be added in a similar way to your clear or ornamental glazing’s exterior. Featuring an impact resistant film, this high-tech glass is hard for burglars to smash. Even if broken due to a very high force, glass shards then remain held in place, rather than shattering outwards. This is highly effective at reducing risk of injury and means that even when smashed, entry through the glass and its intact film is made very difficult without the right tools.
The Swindon front door’s generous top glass panel meets the robust uPVC element below the handle to create a timeless feel. Rural areas with few houses and rolling, unscarred landscapes benefit particularly well from the classic design which can be easily customised to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. A subtle yet practical design can be achieved by choosing the finishing touches from the extensive selection of decors and colours in our configurator. Adding a deep yet warm tone to the Swindon front door with matching decorative foils, for example, can create a cosy wooden look on top of the uPVC which adds a fitting rustic charm but does away with the considerable maintenance required for natural wood.
With its different glazing options for varying degrees of privacy, the Swindon glass model is well suited to flat or house main entrances. If the blurred shapes being visible from the outside, however, still doesn’t provide the full seclusion you are seeking, the door can function better as an entrance to a hallway, staircase or room which isn’t frequently used. Perfect for catching glimpses outside, the model is also well suited to border onto gardens or courtyards while maintaining a warm cosiness within.
The Swindon model, half glass, half panel, is available in different colours and creates a light filled entrance
