Although the Birmingham front door clearly takes a great deal of inspiration from the traditional country style with its classic panelled design, it nevertheless achieves a much more clean-lined appearance overall. This is largely due to the fact that the coffered panels are only hinted at by a number of fine relief lines. The two glass inserts, which combine together to form a segmental arch, are framed in much the same way. Motif glass is also used to add emphasis to the areas where light comes through the glazing.
